Solynth Platform · Status Report

From content experiments to a working authenticated platform

A high-level status report of the current Solynth development thread, prepared as an orientation for a new collaborator: what was built, what now works end-to-end, how public and member content connect, where Patreon fits, and what remains DEV work.

Executive summary

The platform has moved beyond a collection of static content sites. The DEV build now has a coherent public front door, Auth0-backed sign-in, a Solynth-owned user shadow table, account status control, canonical entitlements, database-owned content classification and a server-side content gate.

The major milestone in this thread was SOL-005E. Three dedicated Auth0 database users were created and mirrored into platform.sln_users. One was given an active SOLYNTH_MEMBER entitlement, one deliberately had no entitlement, and one was disabled. The final regression script verified all three paths through the real login flow.

Demonstrable now: public site → login → Auth0 → Solynth session → account status → entitlement → protected content.

What is real now

  • Public front door: public pages remain accessible without authentication.
  • SSO: DEV login uses the real SolynthSSO Auth0 Authorization Code + PKCE flow.
  • Session issuance: enabled users receive sln_session; disabled users do not.
  • User control: Auth0 owns identity and credentials; Solynth owns account state in platform.sln_users.
  • Entitlements: platform.entitlements is the canonical Solynth authorization grant store.
  • Protected content: database-owned content can be public or member-gated.
  • Regression harness: the real login and authorization path can now be certified automatically.

How the work evolved in this thread

1. Environment and delivery discipline

Runtime secrets were separated from source-controlled code. runtime/secrets/codespaces.env became the DEV environment source, and the final 005E runner now loads it automatically.

2. Dedicated regression identities

Three Auth0 users were created for predictable authorization testing: entitled, unentitled and disabled.

3. Solynth shadow users

The Auth0 subjects were inserted into platform.sln_users; passwords remained entirely in Auth0.

4. Canonical membership entitlement

The entitled user received an active SOLYNTH_MEMBER grant; the unentitled user deliberately received none.

5. Test-harness flaw isolated

The original regression client produced a valid Auth0 token for the wrong audience. The live Solynth site expected the SolynthSSO client audience. Production authentication was sound; the test path was wrong.

6. Certification rebuilt around the real login path

The replacement harness drives /login, Auth0 Universal Login, Authorization Code + PKCE, the callback, session issuance and the protected-content gate.

7. Flight Control promotion

The 12/12-passing script was packaged, validated, committed from A-Shell, pushed, pulled fresh into Codespaces and rerun successfully.

Patreon: current position

The architecture separates external membership evidence from Solynth authorization. Patreon is intended to become an external source that influences canonical Solynth entitlements rather than being queried directly for every protected-content request.

Still evolving: the Patreon integration foundation exists, but automatic Patreon-to-entitlement mutation/synchronization should not yet be presented as a finished production pipeline.

Suggested walkthrough for John

  1. Start at the public site. Show the public face and how visitors discover material.
  2. Open a protected item. Demonstrate that member content is gated deliberately, not hidden on an unrelated island site.
  3. Log in through SolynthSSO. Explain Auth0 identity versus Solynth account/entitlement decisions.
  4. Show the three regression outcomes. Entitled, unentitled and disabled make the model concrete.
  5. Show the content source. Connect a published item back to its repository and content-card representation.
  6. Explain Patreon honestly. It is part of the membership-evidence architecture, but automated entitlement sync is still being completed.
  7. Finish with content creation. Show where new work enters and how it can become public, member-only, podcast, social or other collateral.

Ready to demonstrate

  • Public site
  • Real SolynthSSO login
  • Enabled/disabled states
  • Canonical entitlement gate
  • Protected content routes
  • 12/12 certification

Still DEV / evolving

  • Credential rotation / production hardening
  • Environment cloning automation
  • Automatic regression-user provisioning
  • Patreon entitlement sync
  • Administrative UI / REST management

Process improvements

  • Flight Control delivery pattern
  • A-Shell → GitHub → Codespaces verification
  • DEV fixture packaging
  • Automatic env loading in 005E
  • Transient runtime artifacts kept out of source control

What this thread accomplished beyond code

The scope expanded because the system kept exposing real architectural questions. Testing revealed an Auth0 audience mismatch in the original harness; debugging clarified the true session contract; operational friction exposed the need for automatic environment loading; repeated delivery failures hardened Flight Control; and planning discussions exposed a future need for a richer workflow/business-operations model.

In practical terms, the thread did not merely finish a login test. It converted several loosely connected platform ideas into a system that can now be demonstrated as a coherent whole.
